Rare Painting Showcased at National Art Museum of China

The National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) is currently featuring a rare and historically significant ink painting by Jiang Zhaohe, titled Refugees. This poignant artwork, completed in 1943, depicts the suffering endured by individuals and the nation during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).

Refugees is an extensive piece, measuring 12 meters in length, and its delicate nature means it is seldom displayed to the public. However, it is now prominently featured in the exhibition Universal Harmony, offering a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts and historians to view this landmark painting.

The exhibition, which highlights works by members of the China Democratic League, includes a diverse range of artworks spanning various periods. This showcase not only celebrates Jiang Zhaohe’s impactful painting but also provides a broader perspective on the contributions of the League’s artists to Chinese art and culture.
