Bob Ross, known for his vibrant depictions of nature, is also associated with a unique grayscale painting from his television series “The Joy of Painting.” This particular episode, created to cater to colorblind viewers, has garnered significant attention, with its YouTube views tripling those of other episodes.
Since Ross’s passing in 1995, his legacy has undergone various reinterpretations. A 2016 NPR interview revealed that his former business partner described him as difficult off-camera and critical of his signature hairstyle. However, not all revisions have been negative. In 2019, Bob Ross’s work was featured in a museum for the first time, with the Smithsonian National Museum of American History acquiring pieces from Bob Ross Inc.’s archives. This acquisition contrasted Ross’s own skepticism; during a 1994 interview with Phil Donahue, Ross had doubted that his art would ever be exhibited in a prestigious venue like the Smithsonian.
