Julie A. Childers Unveils Art Exhibition Focused on Human Faces

Julie A. Childers, an artist who began her creative journey in 2014, is showcasing her latest art exhibition, which delves into the diverse expressions of human faces. Childers’ initial foray into painting emerged from a desire to decorate her bare walls. Armed with acrylic paints, a simple brush, and a small canvas, she discovered a profound joy in creating art—a passion that has since become a vital outlet for her emotions.

Her artistic evolution has seen her experiment with various mediums, from charcoal and acrylic paints to watercolor and oil pastels. The bright hues and blendable qualities of oil pastels, reminiscent of crayons, have evoked a child-like sense of wonder in her work.

Childers’ current focus is on depicting the eyes of a broad spectrum of individuals. Her daily work at an optometrist’s office has heightened her appreciation for the human gaze, which she meticulously captures in her paintings. Each portrait, set against both repurposed canvases and newly created backgrounds, underscores the balance between our shared humanity and individual uniqueness. By using consistent canvas sizes, Childers emphasizes the commonality among people while celebrating their distinctiveness.

Through this exhibition, Childers aims to foster a connection between viewers and the subjects of her portraits, encouraging an appreciation for the intriguing aspects of each person we encounter.
