Reception for Wilsonville City Hall Art Gallery Scheduled for September 18

A reception celebrating an art gallery featuring local artist Toni Avery’s paintings will take place on Wednesday, September 18, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Wilsonville City Hall.

Avery’s artwork, showcasing nature and landscape scenes, has been displayed in the City Hall since August and will remain on view until Tuesday, November 12. The paintings are prominently featured along the walls of the City Hall.

In her artist statement, Avery describes her work as deeply inspired by her “fascination” with nature. “The artist experiences life and records her place in those experiences. My paintings begin where memory and emotion merge, and this is where my creativity is born,” Avery explains. She employs dynamic, broad strokes and a playful approach to express her personal experiences and connection to nature.

The Clackamas Arts Alliance, a nonprofit organization that manages art galleries across the county through its Artist Exhibit Program, selected Avery’s work. Wilsonville City Hall is one of the venues in this program, according to Erika Valentine, Wilsonville’s Arts and Culture Program Coordinator.

Valentine notes that the City Hall space has functioned as an art gallery for about a year, featuring new artists approximately every three months. She added that while some artists opt to hold receptions, others choose not to.
