LONDON — Two men have been charged in connection with the theft of Banksy’s renowned painting Girl With Balloon from a London gallery. The Metropolitan Police’s Flying Squad conducted the investigation following the artwork’s disappearance from the gallery on New Cavendish Street in central London on Sunday.
Larry Fraser, 47, from Beckton, East London, and James Love, 53, from North Stifford, Essex, were charged with non-residential burglary on Wednesday. The charges were announced by the Metropolitan Police.
The accused appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court the following day and were granted bail. They are scheduled to appear at Kingston Crown Court on October 9.
