Painting Transformed Paris Brosnan’s Life

Paris Brosnan, son of renowned actor Pierce Brosnan, found his passion for painting at a young age, sharing this creative journey with his father, who has been a self-taught artist since the 1980s. Growing up in Los Angeles, Paris was surrounded by the vibrant culture of the city, where he found early inspiration in skateboarding across the West Coast. His first foray into the arts was through spray painting, which he describes as his “first love.”

Now 23 years old, Paris has evolved into a visual artist and filmmaker whose work is defined by boldness, vibrancy, and an energetic sense of freedom. His large-scale paintings are bursting with color, embodying raw and sometimes overpowering emotions. “My work is bold and vibrant, oftentimes energetic and sometimes overpowering,” he says, emphasizing the spontaneity and fluidity that characterizes his pieces.

Music plays a significant role in his artistic process. Paris explains that the songs he listens to while painting influence the mood and direction of his work, with Afrobeats being one of his current favorites. “I love to let songs that I’m listening to carry the vibe of the work,” he shares, demonstrating how intertwined his love for music and art has become.

Paris’ latest works, including his 2024 pieces Pas Mal and Late to the Party, reflect this dynamic energy. Both paintings are now available for purchase on Cohart, featured in PAPER magazine’s curated series of art drops. His style often involves layering words over abstract shapes, creating a sense of chaos and discovery as viewers are drawn deeper into the canvas. This intricate layering technique reflects the complexity of his work, as he admits that it can be difficult to know when a piece is truly finished. “I often go back to paintings even after I’ve finished them,” Paris reveals, adding that the process can take anywhere from a single day to an entire month.

Through his exploration of painting, Paris Brosnan has carved out a unique voice in the art world, and his creative journey continues to evolve as he combines his love of visual art and music to craft bold, expressive pieces.
