An amateur artist has clinched a prestigious arts award in Carlisle with her unique painting of a biscuit.
Jo Graham, 40, expressed her astonishment after winning the Whyte’s Cafe Painting Prize at the Historic Quarter Arts Festival, marking her debut in the competitive art scene. In a remarkable feat, Graham crafted her artwork—a McVities Rich Tea Biscuit—using strong tea on paper sourced from a recycled cup, all in less than an hour.
Her work was selected by a distinguished judging panel, which included landscape artist Malcolm Wilson, owner of Black Box Architects in Carlisle.
