BARTimore, a student-led organization at Johns Hopkins University, is making strides in promoting artistic expression and strengthening community ties through its mural painting projects. With a focus on visual art, the club provides student artists with an outlet to both create and contribute to the broader Baltimore community.
The group holds weekly sessions where members collaborate on large murals or work on individual art pieces. These gatherings foster a social and creative environment, allowing students to express themselves while contributing to campus culture. Past projects include an Old Bay-inspired mural at the Keswick campus, a vegetable-themed illustration in the Hopkins food pantry, and a vibrant rainbow Blue Jay mural in the lobby of the Allston apartments.
In a recent interview with The News-Letter, bARTimore Co-President Charlotte Cheung highlighted the impact of these student-created murals, emphasizing their importance in building a sense of community and connecting Hopkins students with the larger Baltimore area. Through their work, bARTimore continues to cultivate a thriving visual arts culture both on and off campus.
