Local Artist to Showcase Work at “Forty Years of Painting in West Virginia” Art Show

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Tom Acosta, a painter with four decades of experience, will showcase his artwork in Beckley at an event titled “Forty Years of Painting in West Virginia.” The art show is scheduled for Friday, October 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring live music by John Ellison and Ukrainian pastries for guests.

Acosta expressed his passion for engaging with fellow artists, encouraging them to persevere in their creative pursuits. “I enjoy talking to other artists and motivating them. Many visitors are painters, and I like to ask them about their work. If they’re using watercolor, which is often considered a challenging medium, I tell them not to overthink it—just paint,” he said.

Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase Acosta’s paintings, which will also be available for raffle during the event.
