Athens, Greece — Art Athina, Greece’s largest annual art fair and one of the longest-running in Europe, will be held at the Zappeion Exhibition Hall from September 19 to 23. This year’s event promises a broader experience as it extends its reach to additional spaces within Zappeion and the adjacent ‘Egli’ summer cinema.
The 2024 edition of Art Athina will feature 71 Greek art galleries alongside representatives from 10 foreign countries, showcasing a diverse range of contemporary art. The fair is organized by the Hellenic Art Galleries Association in collaboration with BeBest events company and is held under the patronage of President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou. Antonis Kourkoulos serves as the general manager, with each section of the exhibition curated on an annual rotation.
Attendees can expect a dynamic array of activities, including modern design objects, projects from nonprofits and independent art spaces, as well as talks, video screenings, performances, and educational programs for children.
In a continued tradition, the Art Athina prize will be awarded for the third consecutive year to a young artist, in partnership with the MOMus-Alex Mylona Museum. MOMus, the Metropolitan Organisation of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki, oversees four museums in Thessaloniki, including the Mylona Museum. Last year’s winner, Stefania Strouza of a.antonopoulou.art Gallery, will exhibit her work at the Mylona Museum from September 12 to October 13.
