Clinton Embraces Public Art: Paint It Back Festival Returns Alongside New Sculptures

CLINTON, Iowa (KWQC) — Clinton is undergoing a vibrant artistic revival as the city wholeheartedly embraces public art through two major initiatives: the Paint It Back festival and a new Public Sculpture program.

City Councilmember Gregg Obren highlighted the significance of these developments, noting that they represent a broader cultural shift previously unrecognized in the community.

The Paint It Back festival, now in its second year, is set to once again transform the old car dealership at 2231 Grant Street into a lively hub of artistic expression. Founded by local artists Gabi Torres and Chris Shannon, the festival aims to bring art directly to the streets, invigorating the area with creativity.

In addition to the festival, Clinton is introducing a new Public Sculpture program, further enhancing the city’s commitment to integrating art into daily life. These efforts collectively reflect Clinton’s growing appreciation for the role of public art in fostering community connection and cultural enrichment.
