Hauser & Wirth has announced that it will represent Michaela Yearwood-Dan, an acclaimed artist featured in the Artsy Vanguard 2022. The gallery will share representation of the British painter with New York’s Marianne Boesky Gallery.
Yearwood-Dan will embark on a new role as artist-in-residence at Hauser & Wirth Somerset, with her residency scheduled from October to November 2024. Additionally, Hauser & Wirth will host a solo exhibition of Yearwood-Dan’s work at its London gallery in 2025. Currently, her vibrant abstract paintings are prominently displayed in the Dallas Museum of Art’s exhibition “When You See Me: Visibility in Contemporary Art/History,” which runs through April 13, 2025.
Born in London in 1994, Yearwood-Dan initially pursued drama and music before transitioning to painting after a missed opportunity at a prestigious performing arts school. She earned her B.A. in Painting from the University of Brighton in 2016. Since graduating, she has showcased her work in group exhibitions across the U.K., including at Unit in London and Limbo Gallery in Margate, Kent. Yearwood-Dan’s abstract pieces, infused with personal and cultural narratives, explore themes of identity through botanical imagery, textual elements, and vibrant color palettes.
