A mural of a fisherman painted upside down has left the community of Fleetwood, Lancashire, both intrigued and puzzled. Created by Argentine artist Seba Cener, the artwork adorns the side of a carpet shop and depicts a fisherman amidst a swirling sea.
While some locals have praised the mural’s artistic quality, others are questioning the unconventional orientation of the piece.
Christian Fenn from The Big Heart Projects, which commissioned the mural, explained that Cener is known for his unique approach of painting upside down to “change people’s perspectives.” Fenn added, “We are thrilled with how the mural has generated a variety of discussions.”
The mural’s location on Bernie Atherton Carpets prompted the shop to express its gratitude on Facebook, honoring “all our fishermen from Fleetwood who risked their lives to provide for our local community and had no set time for returning to their families.”
