HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) – The Copper Country Community Arts Center (CCCAC) in Hancock has unveiled a new exhibit centered around Lake Superior. The display features recent works by Randy Wakeham, an alumnus of Finlandia University’s School of Art and Design, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2004.
The exhibit showcases 39 paintings that capture the various moods of Lake Superior, including vibrant wave crests and stark winter shorelines. Cynthia Cote, Executive Director of CCCAC, notes that Wakeham has increasingly focused on water themes in his art. “When he starts his paintings, he often reflects on what he loves about being in a particular place,” Cote explained. “Water frequently emerges as a central element, which resonates with many of us.”
