READING, MA — The Reading Art Association will host a painting demonstration featuring artist Mary Rose O’Connell on October 9, 2024. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Guild Hall at the First Congregational Church, located at 25 Woburn St.
O’Connell, renowned for her vibrant oil paintings of the New England coastline, will showcase her techniques using gouache during the demonstration. In addition to her seascapes, she is celebrated for her sensitive portrayals in portraiture, still life, and landscape genres.
Trained in the Boston School Tradition, O’Connell combines a solid foundation in composition and design with the color and light techniques reminiscent of 19th-century Impressionism. She creates her art both in her studio and en plein air, bringing a representational style to her diverse body of work.
The demonstration is open to the public and promises to be an inspiring evening for art enthusiasts and aspiring artists alike.
