Featured Artwork of the Month: Charline Tyberghein’s €12,500 Painting

Charline Tyberghein, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, has made a significant mark in the art world since her graduation in 2018. That same year, she was awarded the prestigious KoMASK Masters Salon Painting Award, which recognizes outstanding master’s students in the field of art on an international scale.

This accolade not only brought Tyberghein into the public eye but also helped establish her reputation within the Antwerp art community and beyond. Her work has since been showcased in esteemed institutions, including Kunstmuseum Bielefeld in Germany, M HKA in Antwerp, and Beursschouwburg in Brussels. Additionally, her paintings are part of significant collections such as MuHKA Antwerp, Flemish Fairs, and the Belfius Collection. Tyberghein is represented by the Sofie Van de Velde Gallery in Antwerp, Belgium.

Tyberghein’s art reflects her Belgian heritage and draws inspiration from the Surrealist movement in Brussels. Renowned for her distinctive fusion of abstraction and figuration, her paintings feature vibrant colors, a bold style, and a playful approach to simplicity. Utilizing the ancient technique of trompe l’œil, Tyberghein creates optical illusions of space and perspective on flat surfaces, effectively introducing sculptural elements into her two-dimensional works. This innovative method lends her art a dynamic and captivating dimension.
