Go Media Stadium Unveils New 60-Metre Mural Celebrating Local History

After weeks of anticipation, Go Media Stadium has revealed a stunning new mural that spans nearly 60 metres along its wall, honoring the venue’s rich history.

The mural, which stretches from the northern end of the lower tier of the East Stand, features seven panels, each depicting a unique story related to the culture and history of the surrounding area.

Auckland artist Jonny4Higher was one of three artists selected to bring this vibrant artwork to life. “The stadium approached us to create an epic mural that commemorates everything that has happened here,” he said. “It’s about people transitioning from the past to the future, celebrating the history and the energy and unity of all the people of Tamaki Makarau.”

Jonny4Higher expressed pride in their work, which bridges past and present while representing not only the local community but also many others across the island.

Auckland Stadium Director James Parkinson emphasized the importance of respecting the stadium’s history, ensuring that the mural project authentically reflects that legacy.
