MAAS Aviation Enhances Aircraft Painting Longevity for Clients

MAAS Aviation, a globally recognized leader in aircraft painting and exterior coatings, has announced significant improvements in the durability of paint finishes for several client programs. This advancement stems from the company’s continuous investment in its personnel, processes, and facilities, resulting in increased capacity across its European paint operations.

Richard Marston, Chief Commercial Officer at MAAS, noted, “We collaborate closely with our long-term clients through annually recurring programs, allowing us to understand the specifics of their fleets. We leverage the insights gained from these partnerships to refine our processes for all customer projects.”

Historically, narrowbody aircraft required repainting every four to five years. However, thanks to the latest technology and high-quality painting techniques, MAAS is now achieving finishes that remain visually appealing and effective for seven to eight years. As a result, the average lifespan of a paint scheme for MAAS clients has increased to between six and eight years.

Now celebrating its 40th year, MAAS has navigated various trading environments. Marston emphasized, “As the aviation industry recovers and demand approaches or surpasses pre-2020 levels, slot availability at all MROs has become limited. We are pleased to offer increased capacity and, for the first time in many years, winter painting slots for the 2024-2025 season, though in limited quantities. This is a direct outcome of our process investments to extend painting intervals and adjust programs across our European facilities.”

He added, “I take great pride in being part of a team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards. I am immensely proud of our hardworking staff across global sites who deliver excellence to our customers every day.”
